Hot 107.9 stopped the music Monday November 15th between 7pm and 9pm to present “Bullying is not Hot” moderated by the Durrty Boyz.
This effort to raise awareness on bullying featured a panel of guests including; Atlanta Police Officer James Polite, local school guidance counselors, Monique Rivarde (mother of 18 yr old Bobby Tillman who was recently bullied to death) and several students who have been bullied by their peers.
Additionally national recording artists and celebrities including Ne-Yo, Queen Latifah, Jazmine Sullivan, Jamie Foxx, Ray J and Diddy will all have a special message on the topic in hopes that students will understand the seriousness of this issue.
Radio One Operations Manager Hurricane Dave adds: “We must find a way to reach our kids. They have become so desensitized to violence I sometimes wonder if they know how real this is. Bullying has become a major issue with our youth and Hot 107.9 is doing their part to combat this head on.”
Over 80 percent of the calls to the Georgia Department of Education and GBI Hotline are related to bullying incidents in schools.
