Tupac Amaru Shakur (aka 2Pac) was born in Harlem, NY. He was the son of two active members of the Black Panther Party. After spending a short time in Baltimore, Maryland, his family moved to California while Pac was still in his teens.

Shakur started his rap career along side hip-hop ground, Digital Underground working as a roadie and dancer. After the 1991 release of his debut album, 2Pacalypse Now, 2Pac’s rap career skyrocketed.

2Pac proved to be multi-talented as he held down acting roles in films like Juice and Poetic Justice, playing opposite Janet Jackson. Despite many run-ins with the law, Shakur was was working to turn his life around when was killed at age 25. His death remains unsolved. However, his legacy as a hip hop legend and contribution to the culture lives on.
