Team Indie Takes The Thrown 2

Team Indie Takes The Thrown

There was no place better suited to answer the question of Who can officially have basketballs Ultimate Bragging Rights than in the “Mecca of Hoops,” Brooklyn NYC! That question was officially answered at the Barclay’s Center proceeding a clash between King James Miami Heat and The Big Ticket AKA Kevin Garnet’s BK Nets. After a double over time Nets victory, Redbull Midnight Run was ready to take place! The event was full of exciting play and animated to the fullest by Hot 107.9’s own Reec aka Mr. Who You Wit and California street ball Legendary MC J.C. “Mouth Piece” Thompson!

After a preliminary round  that included top rated hometown hoops heroes from cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, DC, Indianapolis, LA, NOLA, NYC and Philly only four teams where left standing to play in “the big boy gym.”  When the smoke cleared only Philly (who beat last years champions Chicago in a come from behind upset), NYC, ATL and Indie where left standing.

As the semifinalist took the stage, you could cut the tension with a knife. Philly squared off against Indie  to see who would be the first team to make it to the finals. Philly was stacked with bruisers and slashing guards but in the end they fell short to Indy’s basketball savvy play as they executed play after play in machine like style. Next Atlanta played the hometown favorite NYC team. After leading for a solid three quarters, Team ATL lost their momentum and rhythm to NYC who picked up their play in the second half.

The Championships were set! NYC Vs. Indiana, The Mecca of Hoops Vs. The Home of the Hoosiers. This story book setting didn’t disappoint the supporting fans and spectators. Each quarter was full of lead changes, highlight filled finishes and high flying action. In a nail biting finish Indy won by 2 points as NYC failed on a 3 point attempt at the buzzer to finish the game.  The victors not only received beautiful Platinum trophies, but also Championship varsity jackets courtesy of Dime Magazine, Sneaker bags by Solepack and a hefty amount of hoops gear by Adidas.
