ANDRE-WARD-GETTYBoxing promoter Dan Goossen was caught off guard by a vicious legal blow and longtime client boxing champion Andre Ward is the person behind it.

According to Page Six, Super-middleweight boxing champ Andre Ward filed a lawsuit against Dan Goossen in a California federal court. Ward alleges Goossen violated the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act, which requires all promoters to disclose the amount they pocketed from the boxing match to their clients.

Andre Ward stated in court documents, “Even though Goossen has promoted [Ward] for nearly his entire 10-year professional career, and despite repeated requests by [Ward], Goossen failed in all instances to make any timely disclosures to [Ward] . . . for any of his fights from 2004 to 2012.”

The suit went on to say when Goossen was setting up a fight in 2013 for Ward, Goossen’s financial disclosure was “woefully inadequate.”

This is the latest battle between Ward and Goossen. Ward, an Olympic gold medalist previously was denied twice by the California State Athletic Commission when he tried to have his contract with Goossen invalidated. Andre Ward also sued in California Superior Court. The difference between this lawsuit and the previous ones is the boxer is asking for damages that could net him tens of millions.
