A Louisiana judge has ruled that some of Lil Boosie’s rap lyrics can be used as evidence in his first-degree murder trial, which is set to begin Monday, April 30  in Baton Rouge.

Judge Mike Erwin granted the motion to have three of the Louisiana rapper’s (born Torrence Hatch) lyrics submitted to show intent in the prosecution’s case against him.

Boosie is accused of hiring a hit man, Michael Louding, aka Marlo Mike, to carry out the murder of Terry Boyd in 2009. Louding is accused of six separate murders in the Baton Rouge area. Louding originally denied any connection to Boosie, but later confessed to the Baton Rouge Police Department about his involvement in the murder.

Detective Alvin Howard said that Louding admitted to him that Boosie paid him $2,800 to commit the murder. The defense argued that Detective Howard did not make any attempt to verify if those funds were received by Louding.

Howard testified that lines like “187,” “murk” and “cake,” found in Boosie’s music reference the killing.

Boosie has continued to release music behind bars and wrote a letter to fans thanking them for their support. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
