After 75 years of blessing us with over four decades of his music, Chuck Brown has reportedly passed away today. The Godfather of Go-Go music has been hospitalized since mid-April according due to the pneumonia. He died at John Hopkins earlier today, Wednesday, May 16, 2012.
Brown is undoubtedly one of the most influential musicians that the Washington, D.C. area has ever seen. He created a brand of funk that Washington, D.C. could call its own.
His family is asking for privacy at this time and announcements regarding arrangements will be forthcoming from the family. His family continues to be grateful for the outpouring of love and support and requests respect.
