The NAACP has announced that it backs same sex marriage citing the 14th Amendment. Celebrities including Jay-Z, Will Smith and even the Rev. Jesse Jackson have all publicly lent their support of President Obama’s stance on same sex marriage as well.
According to a recent poll, there is still some resistance among African-Americans when it comes to same sex marriage. However, blacks are not as opposed to same sex marriage as they were 4 years ago. CNN reports that in 2008, 63% of African-Americans opposed same sex marriage, today (2012), that number is at 49%, with 39% opposing and the remaining percentage neutral.
What do YOU think? Is same sex marriage a civil right or a moral issue?
