The two men shot and killed in a church parking lot outside a Stone Mountain funeral were apparently also the gunmen who were shooting at each other.

DeKalb County police told FOX 5 News that the two men were involved in a fight in the parking lot which ended up in a shootout after the two men retrieved guns from their cars. Two other people were injured in the shooting, including a 12-year-old girl.

The shooting occurred at the Victory for the World Church on North Hairston Road as people were leaving a funeral service for 19-year-old Ryan Devon Guider, who was shot and killed on May 26.

Police initially believed that Marcus Ventress, the suspect in Guider’s death, was present in the church parking lot and was involved in the shootout. Police now say that Ventress was never at the funeral.

Ventress, 28, allegedly shot Guider several times in the stomach as an act of retaliation for Guider allegedly burglarizing his home and punching his mother.

Police are still seeking Ventress for questioning.
