This week Hot 107.9 participated in the “Youth Violence Summit” panel at the Victory for the World Church in Stone Mountain.

DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis brought together a panel of outstanding leaders and speakers to discuss issues surrounding youth violence and what the community can do to help. Hot 1079’s Beyonce Alowishus participated in the event as a Moderator. Panelists included Rev. Raphael Warnock, senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church; DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James; and Robert Franklin, outgoing President of Morehouse College.

Hot 107.9 interns distributed the signature “BULLYING IS NOT HOT” wrist bands to event attendees. This event was organized after a deadly shoot out between two young men, Carlos Henderson, Jr. 19, of Ellenwood and Deimetrius Heard, 28, of Decatur after the funeral of Ryan Guider in the parking lot of Victory for the World Church a few weeks ago.

According to the press release, the church parking lot shootings were gang-related.
