Is Gabby Douglas Going To Spelman?

Could 16-year-old Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas be heading to Atlanta to attend Spelman College?

TMZ is reporting that Spelman College president Beverly Daniel Tatum is in London attending the Olympics and made a point to give the history-making gymnast a Spelman gift bag containing a congratulatory note, school t-shirt and a CD containing a song produced by the college.

Tatum released the following statement to TMZ:

“A young woman who has demonstrated the drive and discipline needed to achieve world-class excellence is likely to have what it takes to be successful at Spelman, and we would welcome her interest in the college.”

In addition to helping the U.S. woman’s gymnastics team win gold, Douglas made history by becoming the first black woman to win the gold medal in the all-around competition.
