Common, Janelle Monae and Jermaine Dupri Coming For Democratic National Convention

The artist line up for Democratic National Convention reception is looking a little blacker – thankfully. After days of reading announcements about artists such as Sheryl Crowe and Jeff Bridges, we were beginning to wonder if the convention was going to be as diverse as the party. It’s looking better.

Common will headline the Musicians On Call’s 2012 Presidential Convention Charity Benefit at the Fillmore on Sept. 4. Jermaine Dupri will DJ. The DNC host committee announced that Janelle Monae will join a roster of artist performing at Carolina Fest in uptown Charlotte on Labor Day.
