In a riveting and extremely moving moment at campaign headquarters in Chicago, the newly re-elected 44the President of the United States, Barack Obama, thanked staffers and volunteers for their extraordinary commitment to him and to changing the country.

President Obama talked about his early days in Chicago as a community organizer, telling the rapt audience that “it’s not that you remind me of myself, it’s that you’re so much better.”

He goes on to tell them that they are his hope for the future and the reason that he is able to navigate Washington in the face of opposition — because they give him the strength to believe that he can make a difference.

“The most important thing you need to know is that your journey is just beginning,” President Obama said. “You’re just starting. Whatever good we do over the next four years will pale in comparison to what you guys end up accomplishing for years and years to come. That’s my source of hope. That’s the source of my strength and inspiration.”
