girl-group-epic-hold-on(HOTSPOTATL.com) — Are R&B girl groups back? Meet Monie, Yei, Blue and Stixx who make up the newest girl group in Atlanta called EPIC. They have just released their debut single “Hold On” which was originally performed by 90’s group EnVogue.

EPIC has been getting a lot of social following on the group’s Instagram lately because of their recurring 4-part-harmony acapella feature called #EpicTuesdays.

The were discovered by Doe Henderson of Dynasty Records, known for developing and managing actor/singer Mishon. Doe partnered with Grammy award winning, multiplatinum producer Kevin “She’kspere” Briggs who’s most known for his production on Mariah Carey, Pink, NSync, Destiny’s Child biggest album The Writings On The Wall namely the singles, “Bills, Bills, Bills”, “Bug a Boo”, “So Good”, “Hey Ladies”, and who could forget the legendary group TLC‘s chart topping hit “No Scrubs” off the FanMail album. Briggs is joined by multiplatinum songwriter Tami LaTrell (Whitney Houston, Keyshia Cole, Monica) as the groups vocal producer/songwriter and the production duo is currently working on EPIC’s forthcoming album.

No word yet on if EPIC will be signed to a major but take a listen to their cover of EnVogue’s “Hold On” and let us know whether you think they have what it takes to bring R&B girl groups back to the forefront of urban music.
