The new clinic, backed by the humanitarian group Doctors Without Borders, and Medecins Sans Frontiers, is located in the capital of Freetown. The new facility is pregnant Ebola carriers specific and will detect any signs of Ebola with early testing. Sierra Leone currently has the highest numbers of patients in Western Africa as of December 2014

8, 235 people have passed away since last year and the survival rate for pregnant women is “at virtually zero.” The country’s first case with the disease was with a pregnant woman last May 24, and sadly she had miscarried and died, while her caretakers had also been infected.

Sierra Leona is a country still in a detrimental state and the clinic will be safe haven for these women, as they are often ostracized in their villages and there have been cases of pregnant women, particularly in America, that were actually turned away from hospitals for fear of spreading the virus. Now, they are giving more than a second chance for survive and deliver a healthy baby.
