According to Yahoo News, legendary Blues man B.B. King passed away Thursday evening in Las Vegas at the age of 89.

King’s Attorney Brent Bryson told the The Associated Press that King died peacefully in his sleep at 9:40 p.m. PDT Thursday at his home in Las Vegas.

The Blues phenom influenced generations of musicians from all walks of music and was eventually inducted into both the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to honor his many contributions to the art form.

In songs like “The Thrill Is Gone” King displayed an affinity for finessing his Gibson guitar which he named Lucille. Lucille became synonymous with the name B.B. King. Where you saw him…you most definitely saw “her.”

He was awarded his 15th Grammy in 2009 in the traditional blues album category for “One Kind Favor.”
