The city of Baltimore just got a little brighter after a photo of a teen praying over a homeless man went viral.

Eric Gaines, a University of Maryland police officer, captured the moment last Tuesday while patrolling. After posting the image on Facebook, thousands praised the young man for the sweet gesture.

Speaking to ABC News, Gaines – who uses the pseudonym Jonathan A. Stormz on Facebook – said he thinks the boy was 15 or 16-years-old. He also said the act proved that not all teenagers in the city are troubled.

Via ABC News:

“It was a powerful moment,” Gaines told ABC News. “Everyone who saw him in the area was moved.”

Gaines said that he was glad the photo went viral because “people have preconceived notion of young men.” He added, “Not all are lost. Some are doing wonderful things in the neighborhood and community and it’s not getting the same publicity in the media.”

So far, the photo has been viewed by over 30,000 people.
