Marijuana users in Brooklyn, New York are on high alert after 30 people were victims of a mass overdose from synthetic marijuana “K2”.
Witnesses say these victims were literally walking around like zombies:
“It was like a scene out of The Walking Dead. They were zombied out. They were laid out twitching on the floor. Some of them were motionless. This is nothing you’d want your kids to see.”
Witnesses also reporting that some victims were passed out on sidewalks, leaning on trees, fire hydrants and wandering into traffic!
New York, along with other cities, is experiencing a deadly epidemic of synthetic marijuana usage including varieties known as K2 or ‘Spice’ which can cause extreme reactions in some users. According to New York’s health department, more than 130 people visited an emergency room in the city within the last three days.
K2 affects the same area of the brain as does marijuana but man made chemicals also make it more potent causing hallucinations, vomiting, urination, black outs and even death by overdose.
While the state banned the ingredients used to make K2 in 2012, distributors have switched to other ingredients and names in an attempt to circumvent the law.
