Oh Hell No! Georgia Parents Might Have To Pay $850,000 To Son’s Accused Killers

A recent civil suit could cost the parents of a teen that died in a gym mat in Georgia a whopping $850,000.

Kenneth and Jacqueline Johnson, parents of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson, filed a civil suit against two white brothers, Branden and Brian Bell, who they believed killed their son. They also believe that school officials and law enforcement helped cover up the crime. And while that suit was eventually dropped, the two brothers are now suing the Johnsons to recoup money for their attorney fees, the Associated Press reported.

In addition, the Lowndes County sheriff and the school system have also filed suits against the family as well. On Monday, the judge will determine how much Johnson’s parents would have to pay, if anything.

Sigh…

As HELLO BEAUTIFUL previously reported, in 2013, the teen was found rolled up in a gym mat. Medical examiners said Johnson died by positional asphyxia, but an independent autopsy commissioned by his parents found “unexplained, apparent non-accidental blunt force trauma” to his body. This past June, the Justice Department closed a 2-year plus investigation into Johnson’s death that provided no answers, the AP noted.

Tenn. Father Accused of Killing 11-Year-Old Daughter Fails Drug Test

A Tennessee father accused of accidently shooting and killing his 11-year-old daughter has failed a recent drug test.

On Friday, Timothy Batts, who is out on half a million dollars bond, could be going back to jail for testing positive for cocaine just days after being released. Batts posted bond days after being arrested on reckless homicide, tampering with evidence, false reporting and other charges in pre-teen Timea Lashay Batts’ death, FOX 17 News reported.

When arrested last week, Batts admitted to police that he sold cocaine, but did not mean to shoot his daughter.

“We know he did not mean to shoot Timea and we know right here that this was the worst tragic accident that could happen to a family,” a neighbor told FOX 17 News.

Batts is currently still out in bond.

While President Obama was watching the Olympics on television like the rest of us, that didn’t stop him from sending a Twitter shout-out to five-time medalist Simone Biles for not only winning four golds and a bronze, but for carrying the American flag during the Closing Ceremony.

And of course the 19-year-old gymnast, had the perfect response.

Can we get some POTUS love too? Just saying.
