A famous TV villain once said, “Any man can win when things go his way, but it’s the man who
overcomes adversity that is the true champion.” Surely the writers who inked these profound
words for Dallas antagonist J.R. Ewing had no idea they would one day be used to frame the story of an urban disc jockey; but in the case of Hot 107.9’s late-night personality BEESTROH there are a few quotes that sum up his personal journey any better.
Born in Holyoke, MA, BEESTROH spent his teenage years and early 20s on the wrong side of the
law, ducking and dodging the police and the haters at every turn. In between his varied, lucrative exploits in the streets, BEESTROH linked up with some neighborhood friends and formed a group called Dotcom, a Fugees-styled, two man, one woman trio that came very close to landing a deal with Elektra Records before disbanding due to a “lack of passion” from the other members. While working with Dotcom, BEESTROH mastered every tool in the studio on his own, discovering a new passion for production that would serve him well in the future.
