After filing for divorce last season, NeNe Leakes and husband Gregg were spotted cozying up in New Orleans at the 2011 Essence Music Festival.

The outspoken “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star had a speaking engagement at the festival, and later hit up an after party with her ex. NeNe, who also appeared on “Celebrity Apprentice,” rocked a sky-high pair of Louboutins on the red carpet while Gregg sat around looking bored, but when all was said and done, the couple were seen leaving the club together.

Word on the street is that the couple have been instructed not to be photographed together, because a big part of the “RHOA” Season 4 storyline revolves around their divorce proceedings.

New Orleans rapper B.G. has been indicted by a federal grand jury on gun and conspiracy charges.

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten said the former Hot Boy faces two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice.

If convicted, B.G., real name Christopher Dorsey, could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the gun charges and up to 20 years and a $250,000 fine on the conspiracy charge.

The charges stem from a 2009 traffic stop, where officers recovered three guns. Two of the guns were reported stolen.

Chelsea Handler wants everyone to calm down.

The late night host has taken to Twitter to shoot down reports that she is dating 50 Cent:

“Everyone, calm down. I met with mr. Cent about a potential project. There’s nothing to report yet, ill let you know if there is,” she wrote Wednesday night.

Rapper Twelve A’Klok the cousin of late rapper Soulja Slim was found shot to death on a street in New Orleans on Monday (August 2nd).

Twelve A’Klok, born Argell White, was a founding member of the record label Cut Throat Committee group/record label, along with his relative Soulja Slim and rappers Re-Nitty, Doubla Crossa and Logga Black.

According to the New Orleans’ Times-Picayune, a newspaper deliverer found Twelve A’Klok laying on the ground bleeding, with multiple gunshot wounds to his back on Monday morning just after 5:00 AM.

Mary J. Blige added two more accomplishments to her impressive resume: She received her high school diploma, and she unveiled her new fragrance, My Life, at this weekend’s Essence Music Festival.

Multiple Grammy Award-winning recording artist, actress, and songwriter Janet Jackson will make her only concert appearance of 2010 at this year’s ESSENCE Music Festival on July 4th weekend in New Orleans. This performance will be Jackson’s debut at the ESSENCE Music Festival, as well as her first full concert since 2008.

Jackson–who has sold over 100 million records worldwide and is one of the best-selling artists of all time–joins Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys on the all-star lineup. Jackson is scheduled to perform on July 2nd, the opening night of the festival. The announcement was made today in celebration of Jackson’s iTunes release of “Nothing,” the theme song she performs, co-wrote and co-produced for Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married Too?” opening nationwide April 2, 2010.

Jackson’s appearance adds more star power to the 40th anniversary celebration of ESSENCE, the first magazine to grace Janet Jackson on its cover.

New Orleans rapper and former Hot Boys member Juvenile was arrested earlier this afternoon after police found a small amount of marijuana in his home.

According to reports, a neighbor called police when they smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from a house on Livingston Avenue, in Arabi, St. Bernard Parish.

When police arrived at the house around 3:00 PM and knocked on the door, a producer for the rapper answered the door and a cloud of smoke rushed the officers.

According to reports, the producer, Leroy Edwards, refused to cooperate with police, who obtained a search warrant and later found a half an ounce of marijuana in the kitchen.

Juvenile claimed the drugs and both men were arrested. Both have posted bond.

Admitting a massive cover-up, a former New Orleans police supervisor pleaded guilty to a federal obstruction charge on Wednesday, confessing that he participated in a conspiracy to justify the shooting of six unarmed people after Hurricane Katrina that was hatched not long after police stopped firing their weapons.

The guilty plea of Lt. Michael Lohman, who retired from the department earlier this month, contains explosive details of the alleged cover-up and ramps up the legal pressure on police officers involved in the shooting and subsequent investigation.

Lohman, who pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiracy to obstruct justice, admits he failed to order the collection of evidence or canvassing of witnesses, helped craft police reports riddled with false information, participated in a plan to plant a gun under the bridge and lied to investigators who questioned police actions.

A spokeswoman for New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin did not respond to a request for comment.

In a news conference after Lohman’s plea, U.S. Attorney Jim Letten said police must be held to the law.

“Police officers are there to protect us, and to protect the most vulnerable among us,” he said. “Their jobs are to help individuals and protect us, not to hurt us. Sadly, sadly, we come across in the course of our work here…officers who violate their oaths of office, who occasionally violate their duties, violate their commitment to serve the public. And we take actions against those individuals wherever they violate federal law. We will continue to do that.”

In the wake of the startling developments, defense attorneys for some of the six police officers and one former officer involved in the shooting maintained their clients’ innocence.

All seven men were indicted by a state grand jury in December 2006 on murder and attempted-murder charges, but that case collapsed in court in the summer of 2008. Six weeks later, U.S. Attorney Jim Letten and the U.S. Department of Justice’s civil rights division agreed to take over the case.

James Brissette, 19, was killed on the eastern side of the bridge, while four people walking with him with were seriously wounded. Susan Bartholomew lost part of her arm in the shooting and her husband, Leonard Bartholomew III, was shot in the head. Their daughter, Leisha Bartholomew and a nephew, Jose Holmes, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Leonard Bartholomew IV, a teenage son, was uninjured.

After the shooting, police arrested Lance Madison, a longtime FedEx employee who had been taking care of his brother after the storm. Madison was accused of shooting at officers and booked with attempted murder. That was a “false arrest,” according to the bill of information, the charging document that lays out the laws Lohman allegedly broke.

The cover-up of what Lohman immediately judged an unjustified shooting began just after supervisors arrived, according to the bill. While police attorneys and police reports have asserted that officers were fired upon by the victims before shooting their weapons, the bill maintains that the victims were unarmed.

The other officers involved in the shooting were Michael Hunter, Ignatius Hills, Robert Barrios and Anthony Villavaso.
