Marta is proposing a new Operating and Capital Budget which includes raising fares from the base of $2.00 to $2.50. Weekly and monthly passes will go up as well. The economy is squeezing the transit agency between cutting routes and increasing the costs to ride Marta. You can see the latest proposal on Marta’s website, www.itsmarta.com. The Marta board of directors will vote on their final budget on June 6, 2011, but they’d like to get your opinions on fares, cutting or maintaining services, and hiring more Marta Police.
