We are living in a time where everybody wants to be a performer and nobody wants to be a fan. With the popularity of the internet, the barriers to entry have been seriously lowered. Now that every Tom, Dick, and Harry can be rappers if they have the correct computer software, the marketing strategies have become worse than the below average rhymes these so-called rappers are pushing.

In an effort to help the well-meaning but misguided youth, our friends at The Smoking Section took the time to give eight tips for struggle rappers to end their struggle marketing practices. Peep and excerpt:

Problem #4: Paying to perform

Any promoter that charges you to perform isn’t looking out for your best interests. The end.

Possible Solution: Every city in the country has a different rap show every day of the week. Pick up the phone, make a few calls, send a few emails and find those shows and perform. Don’t drop $40 to open up for D-12.
