According to the New York Post, a  group of emerging rappers with a budget blew through a $130,000 marketing loan. They spent the funds on drugs, first-class airplane tickets and cross-country trips to entertainment festivals such as SXSW in Austin, TX where they were not even performing.

Bronx-based group Da Young Fellaz, who have rhymed with Talib Kweli and Snoop Dogg, are now being sued as a result of their actions.

Stigma Sound, a Manhattan recording studio, claims that Da Young Fellaz Joseph Aguiar, Johnny Aguiar and Brett Officer blew through their first $25,000 loan, meant to rocket the group “toward A-level stardom in the entertainment industry,” in just three months.

The Manhattan Supreme Court suit alleges, that the defendants used loan money for illegal purchases of marijuana and after six months and $125,000 the group had only promoted one of its songs, a joint entitled “Incognito.”

Johnny Aguiar, whose stage name is Jay Storm, wrote a letter to Stigma Sound owner Frank Marquez that read,

“I APOLOGIZE for all of my insults, and comments, I’ve QUIT smoking, and have been for about a month now, I haven’t told you this, but my body, and my mind are going through it, trying to get off the weed.”

We’re sure this is not the last that we will hear about this topic. We’ll keep you posted as we get more information regarding the ongoing lawsuit.
