Despite all the fuss, the Affordable Healthcare Act, also known as Obamacare, is coming! Starting October 1, 2013, Americans can start signing up for affordable health programs through the “Marketplace Insurance Exchange”. What’s that? The Marketplace is the new way to find quality health coverage for you and your family. You can use it if you don’t currently have insurance and if you just want to look to see what other options are available.

The Marketplace is like a one-stop shop. When you fill out just one Marketplace application, you’ll be able to see all the health plans available, compare them and see the lowest costs based on your income. The Marketplace will also let you know if you qualify for free or low-cost coverage through Medicaid or the Children’s health Insurance Program.

The good news is that most people can use the Health Insurance Marketplace. You’re eligible if you live in the United States, if you’re a US citizen and you’re not currently incarcerated. Eligibility questions can be answered 24 hours a day, at 1-800- 318- 2596.

The website, Familiesusa2.org released information saying that 803,000 Georgians will be eligible for financial assistance. Unfortunately for most people, especially the 803,000, some high-ranking Georgia officials are opposed to the Affordable Healthcare Act aka Obamacare. Critics say accuse them of obstruction, and keeping valuable information away from most people in Georgia. This is unfortunate because, the Marketplace Exchange will be up and running on October 1, 2013 and coverage will be required on January 1St. I’ll keep you informed on our websites so check with us again. Also, keep in mind, “In-person” Assistance Centers are open right now, so you can sit “face to face” with someone who can talk you through enrollment.
