Aretha Franklin is the Queen of Soul but apparently the Beyhive gives zero f**ks!
Beyonce’s loyal — and cutthroat! — fan base recently went in on Twitter after the “Respect” singer announced plans to remake “Bootylicious” on an upcoming cover album.
“It’s a concept CD,” Franklin told Billboard. “They’re records that, musically, I respected and that I liked a lot and that I would love to have one go-’round with. I aspire for musical excellence. I have very high standards where music is concerned, and I’m looking for something I haven’t done, something that you haven’t heard and something just absolutely smashing.”
Along with prospective songs like Barbra Streisand’s “People” and Donna Summer’s “Last Dance,” the 71-year-old songstress added, “I’m even thinking of ‘Bootylicious,’” a track penned by Beyonce and performed by Destiny’s Child.
Well, it may have been a good idea for Ms. Franklin to keep those plans to herself because the Beyhive didn’t have too many kind words. Click through the slides below to see what we mean.
C’mon guys, it’s Aretha Franklin!
