Eighties babies, your eyes don’t deceive you. “The Equalizer” television series ran for four years on CBS between 1985 and 1989 and is back as a film starring Denzel Washington.  The original series starred  Edward Woodward as a middle-aged retired intelligence officer named Robert McCall with a mysterious past who helps people in trouble. The film adaptation doesn’t stray too far from the source material, with Washington as McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters.

See how long it takes for him to clear out a room full of thugs in the trailer:

“The Equalizer” is directed by Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day” “Olympus Has Fallen”) and will be in theaters this September.
