While not making music or touring the globe, Big Sean is well known for his charitable work—via his The Sean Anderson Foundation—in his hometown of Detroit.

The rapper recently opened up a recording studio at his former high school and MTV was on hand to speak with Sean and get a tour around the facility at the Cass Technical High School in Midtown Detroit.

“Me and adidas [Originals] teamed up and I just opened my own recording studio in the high school for the kids,” he told MTV.

While speaking with the publication, Big Sean addressed the ever-changing state of education. He described the state of the art facility—titled the Sean Anderson Studio of Infinite Possibilities—as a step in the right direction in terms of education and development.

“Education is changing, man,” Big Sean says. “A lot of these kids, they’re out of the traditional way of learning. We try and misdiagnose them with things like ADD or this and that, and sometimes it may be the case, sometimes it’s not. Sometimes they’re addicted to their phones because that’s how they’re learning now. Things are changing. This is a step forward in that direction. They can learn so much, from engineering, to recording, to just creative, man. The possibilities are endless.”

Big Sean also took to Instagram to celebrate the studio’s opening:
