Jay Z couldn’t be touched by copyright lawsuits even after the infamous Robin Thicke trial. Baligh Hamdi’s nephew Osama Ahmed Fahmy sued Hov and Timbaland for allegedly failing to clear his uncle’s song before using it for “Big Pimpin.” The judge cleared the duo before it even went to the jury.

While Jay Z claimed he didn’t know there was a sample when he recorded the song, he did note that Hamdi’s “Khosara Khosara” was credited on Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter. The case ended when Jay Z and Timbaland testified that they did indeed have rights to use that instrumental.

This is Jay Z’s second public victory in a matter of hours. He held the TIDAL X concert, featuring Beyonce, Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross, last night in Barclay’s Center.
