Celebrity Sightings In Paris - June 13, 2016

Kim Kardashian‘s recent cover of GQ Magazine wasn’t all about baring her body. She also used the platform to stand up for her husband in the great ongoing Kanye West vs. Taylor Swift feud.

When asked about Kanye’s Life of Pablo single, “Famous” in which Kanye sings, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b***h famous,” Kim insisted that the 26-year-old pop star approved the lyrics, only to go and slam the rapper in her Grammys acceptance speech.

“She totally approved that,” Kim told GQ. “She totaly knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t.” She added, “I saw, my husband get so much s**t for things [when] he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved.” She continued to say that Kanye went above and beyond what is expected of rappers to make sure Swift was okay with the lyric, saying, “What rapper would call a girl that he was rapping a line about to get approval?”

Kim’s side of the story definitely seems to corroborate her husband’s as he went to Twitter to defend his use of the lyric.

If this just seems like Kim being a supportive wife, she quickly put that out of the question when she claimed that there is an actual video of the conversation – and even witnesses. “Rick Rubin was there. So many respected people in the music business heard that [conversation] and knew,” Kardashian said. As to why that video hasn’t been released? Kim claims that Swift’s lawyers sent a letter saying, “Don’t ever let that footage come out of me [Swift] saying that. Destroy it.”

GQ has said that they also reached out to Kanye, who confirmed the existence of the footage, and that he had heard from Taylor’s legal team.

Swift has already responded to the newest claims, releasing a statement that reads:

“Taylor does not hold anything against Kim Kardashian as she recognizes the pressure Kim must be under and that she is only repeating what she has been told by Kanye West. However, that does not change the fact that much of what Kim is saying is incorrect. Kanye West and Taylor only spoke once on the phone while she was on vacation with her family in January of 2016 and they have never spoken since. Taylor has never denied that conversation took place. It was on that phone call that Kanye West also asked her to release the song on her Twitter account, which she declined to do. Kanye West never told Taylor he was going to use the term ‘that b***h’ in referencing her. A song cannot be approved if it was never heard. Kanye West never played the song for Taylor Swift.”

The letter statement concluded, “Taylor heard it for the first time when everyone else did and was humiliated. Kim Kardashian’s claim that Taylor and her team were aware of being recorded is not true, and Taylor cannot understand why Kanye West, and now Kim Kardashian, will not just leave her alone.”
