Chestnut Log Middle School drug ring

Metropolitan Police and Federal Partners Seize $7.1 Million in Drugs Operation.

In Douglas County deputies have arrested four teenagers for distributing and selling marijuana at Chestnut Log Middle School.  Officers say a 14 year old had drugs on him and a loaded handgun when they arrested him, and three more boys were caught trying to distribute marijuana at school and were arrested.

They face multiple charges related to selling drugs on school grounds, possession of a firearm and RICO, meaning the boys were charged in connection to organized crime.

 

I-85 will reopen earlier than announced

GDOT says I-85 will reopen about 3 weeks earlier than announced.  The new date is Memorial Day weekend.  GDOT commissioner Russell McMurry says the incentives made quite a difference getting crews to work non-stop.  C.W. Matthews could get 3.5 million if the 85 bridge collapse is repaired and reopened by May 15.

The deadline for the governor to veto bills passed this legislative session is next week, but he still hasn’t signed the controversial campus carry bill, unless the governor veto’s the campus carry bill by next Tuesday it will become law.
