The television movie about the singer Aaliyah, who died in a plane crash in 2001 at age 22, had been mired in controversy with Aaliyah fans and her family expressing disapproval of the project.  However, despite controversy, Lifetime’s Aaliyah movie biopic, “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B” has been filmed and is set to premiere this Saturday night (Nov.15th) at 8pm (EST) on Lifetime.

In the upcoming film you will see a lot of new actors including Nickelodeon actress Alexandra Shipp in the title role. However, she isn’t the only other new actress that you will see on the scene. You will also be introduced to Chattrisse Dolabaille, who will be portraying Missy Elliott in Lifetime’s Aaliyah biopic.

Now for those who don’t know, Aaliyah worked with Missy Elliott on her second album, “One In A Million,” which sold 3.7 million copies in the United States and more than eight million copies worldwide. Then beyond the chemistry in the studio, Elliott was known for being one of Aaliyah’s closes friends, making her role in the upcoming movie even more important. Well on, Friday morning, Dolabaille joined “The Morning Heat” to discuss the Lifetime’s Aaliyah movie biopic, “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B”, her role as Missy Elliott and some of the controversy that has surrounded the film.
