Miami Dolphins defensive end Phillip Merling was arrested in May for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend. The Broward State Attorney’s Office filed the charge against Merling Friday, July 16.
Rumor has it that he hit the woman in the face, head and caused her lip to bleed. Merling’s attorney is pleading “not guilty.” The NFL could also punish Merling for violating the league’s personal-conduct policy.
Merling, who is 6-foot-5 and 305 lbs, had 33 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks for the Dolphins last season.
