For the past year and a half, rapper Ja Rule has been locked away in prison on a gun charge — a charge that stemmed from the same night Lil Wayne caught his gun case. There is good news on the former Def Jam signee because it has been reported he will be released from prison in about three months.

According to the “Always On Time” rapper’s website, he will be liberated from his jail cell on February 21, 2013. Ja Rule’s prison stint began June 7, 2011. The sentence is a result of a 2007 arrest. Ja Rule and his entourage were stopped outside of The Beacon Theatre where Weezy was performing. Authorities pulled Rule’s car over and after police inspected the vehicle, they found a loded semi-automatic handgun.

Since being locked up, Ja has been relatively silent, unlike some rappers we know. The only form of communication Ja had with the public was the release of his album Pain Is Love 2 and an open letter he penned. The letter detailed what life was like behind bars.

Now that we know when Ja Rule is getting out, do you expect him to drop new music soon after?
