Although Tiny and T.I are known for their Grammys, charting topping hits and television shows, they have much more in common, as both of their fathers are Alzheimer’s victims.
With Tiny’s father currently battling the disease and T.I.’s late father succumbing to it’s effects, the Harris’ are hosting an honoree luncheon that will take place on Sunday, October 3rd in Atlanta, to celebrate the pre-launch for the foundation’s website and upcoming benefit concert.
“For the Love of Our Fathers Foundation” was founded in light of the fact that African-Americans are twice as likely to get Alzheimer’s, but much less likely to be diagnosed.
It is the Harris’ mission to raise awareness and services for victims and their loved ones to help them fight the disease with dignity, hope and consciousness.
“The name comes from the fact that my father Charles Pope suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and Clifford’s father, Clifford Harris, Sr., died from it,” Tameka said in a statement to AllHipHop.com.
