R&B singer/producer Ne-Yo has revealed that he spotted Justin Bieber’s talent even before the teen sensation was introduced into the music world by Usher.

According to straightfromthea.com, Ne-Yo claims that Justin did a cover of one of his songs on YouTube, which created a buzz.

“He came to a show and performed and was incredible then, but I didn’t do anything because he was just 11-years-old,” Ne-Yo said.

Fast forward to four years later, Justin auditioned for Usher and was signed up by Island Def Jam chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid.

But at a launch party for Rico Love’s new record label last weekend, Usher remained mum on the discrepancy. When Usher was asked about the claim, the hit-maker declined: “Um — next question please.”

Ne-Yo adds that he’s ok with his decision but despite Bieber’s huge success under Usher’s wing, Ne-Yo still felt the need to throw some shade, saying that Justin’s hits aren’t memorable and he still has some work to do.
