Rapper Ja Rule will find out how long he will be spending in jail today after a Manhattan courtroom deliberates his fate. Back in July 2007 cops said they found a loaded gun in a rear door of his luxury sportscar when it was stopped for speeding. Ja caught his gun charge on the exact same night Lil Wayne caught his case that sent him to jail. In fact, Ja was at Weezy’s show that night in NYC.
For a lighter sentence, Ja Rule pleaded guilty in to gun charges and his plea deal calls for a two-year prison term.
I know that Ja Rule is a “rapper of the past” but he was, at one point, a platinum selling rapper that made hits for the country. Currents rappers such as Lil Wayne, TI, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones (and the list goes on) all were or currently serving jail/prison terms. What message are we sending to our youth? That you need to have a criminal record to make a name for yourself in the music industry? Ummmmm NOT GOOD AT ALL!!! We need to do better as role models and stop rewarding these guys with a slap on the wrist. Just my thoughts…What are yours? -Jazzy McBee
