Changes are being made within Kanye West‘s G.O.O.D. Music stable. One of the first artists signed to the label, Kid Cudi, is walking away from the record company that put him on.

Cudi made the startling announcement during an interview with radio personality Yesi Ortiz. The “Wylin Cause I’m Young” rapper confessed, “I’m no longer on G.O.O.D. Music. [Kanye and I] were talking on the phone the other day and these are things I’ve been wanting to talk to him about me starting my own direction and he got it because you know, he’s trying to start his new path and try new things as an artist and he was just like, ‘Man, I feel you as an artist. It’s cool, whatever.’”

Before anyone could begin to speculate about some sort of rift between Cudi and his former label boss, Cudi shut those notions down. “This is just from a business standpoint. There’s no beef. There’s no problems with anybody on the label. It’s all love.” While he won’t be a full-fledged member of G.O.O.D. music anymore, he is still open to collaborating with other G.O.O.D. Music artists.

Now that Kid Cudi is walking away from G.O.O.D. Music, he wants to focus on building his own empire. Besides getting ready to release his album “Indicud” which is due out April 23rd, he is also recruiting artists for his own imprint Wicked Awesome. “I wanna focus on Wicked Awesome, I wanna focus on [King] Chip, and that’s it. I don’t want to have a full label of artists. I just wanna work on Chip and keep my sound going on the Cudi train.”
