Another Winter Storm Affects Atlanta Area

Georgia Power predicts that falling limbs and trees will cause widespread power outages during the winter storm that’s  hitting the area, so several shelters are opening across Metro Atlanta to help people who need a place to stay warm.
The City of Alpharetta is prepared to provide shelter for those impacted. The City activated all of its fire stations at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday  to receive those who have lost power and heat in their homes.

“We will be ready to assist our residents, especially the elderly and those with medical conditions, who need a warm place to wait out this event,” said Mayor David Belle Isle. “They can go to any City of Alpharetta fire station for assistance, or for those who cannot safely travel to a fire station, we will come and pick them up.”
