Award winning gospel singers Mary Mary’s Tina and Erica Campbell sat down with Mz Shyneka to share with her the Word On The Streetz we all want to know: “Are yall back together or is this the end?”
On being able to transcend into Hip Hop and R&B music even though they are gospel artists:
Erica: That’s what we are supposed to do! The bible says go into the highways and the hedges…You’reare the dark spaces, you’re not always supposed to be in the church…if someone is hurting and confuseed and their heart is broken, then thats where I need to be…So I’m honored whenever we are invited to a hip hop station or to attend hip hop events, I’m not intimidated…God is inside of me and exude His light… I’m still gone shine for God and encourage somebody in the meantime.
Tina: He gave us that through our music and we are very grateful for that, otherwise we are just cultivating the same Christians that know God… If this is supposed to be a life changing gospel, then you’re supposed be like…”let me tell you about God.”… So we are grateful to be able to take our music to different places.”
The duo recently wrapped shooting Season 5 of their hit WEtv originally scripted series, Mary Mary, with Season 4 reaching record audience numbers. Season 5 is set to launch March 3rd, 2016.
