The Georgia NAACP is calling for a weekend of demonstrations in response to the fatal police shootings of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte and Terrance Crutcher in Tulsa.

Activists want participants to wear black to show solidarity. And organizers stress—that participants must REMAIN PEACEFUL.

Information on the rallies is below. I’ve also attached flyers for the events with this email.

Georgia NAACP

Rally and March tonight, September 23rd beginning at 6 pm at the Center for Civil and Human Rights. They’ll march through downtown to Ebenezer Baptist Church to join a group there, and later march to occupy an undisclosed location. Wear black. Stay peaceful. Bring signs.

Atlanta Silent Protest

Silent demonstration at the Lenox Marta Train Station, Saturday, September 24th    from 2 pm until 6:30 pm. Participants will move to protest at the Peachtree Center Station from 7 pm until 12 am. Wear black. Stay silent and peaceful. Bring water, snacks duct tape. Also bring signs that read “Don’t shop here!” and “Black Lives Matter”.

Hymns and Hip-Hop

#WeSayEnough Justice Weekend.  Friday, September 23rd, College and High school students will meet with poets and emcees at Ebenezer’s Community Resource Center to perform to inspire people to work for systemic change before the group goes out to join the NAACP’s downtown march.

Saturday, September 24th  from 9 am until 5 pm, the #WeSayEnough Justice Training will educate students about organization and political strategies for change.

Sunday, September 25th from 9:30 am until 11:30 am they’ll have College Worship Service.

Bring Signs. Stay peaceful. Wear black.

A Voter Education and Registration Event at the Walmart West End organized by the Urban League of Greater Atlanta- Young Professionals. Saturday, September 24th from 9 am until 1 pm

A Scholarship Gala Fundraiser organized by the Newton County NAACP, September 24th at 6 pm at the Turner Lake Complex Banquet Hall in Covington, GA.
