Baltimore’s treasured Reginald F Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture kicked off their Black History Month Celebration earlier this month with the 8th Annual High School Juried Art Show.  Now through March 15th, come see works from Maryland High School students examining “examines self-identity, racial identity, diversity, or family images through portraiture”

Other Black History Month Events include –

Morgan Choir in Concert – Rejoicing in the Spirit – enjoy the sounds of the renowned Morgan State Choir on February 6th at 3pm, as they perform at the museum.  There will also be a short discussion on the evolution of African American Spirituals before the concert.

Picture Book Workshop with Illustrator Shadra Strickland – on February 20th, Shadra Strickland will be reading her children’s book Sunday Shopping.  Following the reading, she will show kids how to draw and help them create their own book art!

Verizon Black History Month Open House 2106 – on February 27th, the museum will be open to the public free of charge  – with interactive tours, activities, and entertainment courtesy of Verizon!
