Atlanta social media has been buzzing over social media posts saying that several inches of snow are coming to the region. Some have stated up to a foot or more of snow is on the way and if you know our traffic, that would be “snowmageddon.”

Are several inches of snow coming to Atlanta or not?

According to 11Alive, while loads of the white stuff are not expected to hit the area, you can expect it to get extremely cold. Temperatures are expected to be way below average in the coming weeks. Meteorologists and several reports say that cold Arctic air will spread over a large amount of the country next week, dropping temperatures to dangerous lows

So, while snow may not be coming to Atlanta, we could see some low temps in the 20s. Make sure you prepare for the cold weather accordingly. Check out ways to warm your home and car. Also, make sure Senior Citizens are warm and where the closest warming centers in proximity to you and your family.

AtlantaGA.Gov lists days and times a warming center will open this Friday and Saturday.

DeKalb County has warming centers open from January 1-4, 2025, including locations like Frontline Response International at 2585 Gresham Road, Atlanta DeKalb County Warming Centers.

Partners for Home provides resources for warming centers, such as the one at 275 Pryor Street SW, which is open to individuals experiencing homelessness when temperatures are 40 degrees or lower.
