Brooklyn’s most famous son, Jay-Z, was on hand at the ceremonial ground breaking of the Barclays Center at Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn yesterday, the new home and arena of the New Jersey Nets, of which he is minority owner. The team will soon be renamed the “Brooklyn Nets.”

He also joined New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the Rev. Al Sharpton and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz in giving a press conference to celebrate the occasion.

“We did it again Brooklyn, shout out to B.I.G.” Jay said, after an introduction from Marty Markowitz. Beyonce was in the audience to cheer him on.

And what did Jay say to Marty after the boro prez had just brandished a photo of Beyoncé kissing him on the cheek? “We’ll talk about that picture later.”
