Looks like another lucky break for NBA YoungBoy as he is set to be released from prison this summer.

As reported by Billboard, the Baton Rouge-based rapper (born Kentrell Gaulden) pleaded guilty to weapons possession charges in two incidents last year. In December, he was sentenced to 23 months in prison and five years probation.

However, federal inmate records now indicate that YoungBoy will be released on July 27, seven months into his sentence. It is unclear when the date was posted or if it could change.

Billboard reports that YoungBoy may have received credit for the time served while awaiting trial. It is not known if he will be released completely or into a halfway house.

In March 2021, YoungBoy was indicted by the feds after he was allegedly found with two guns during a video shoot in Baton Rouge the previous fall. Because of an earlier felony conviction, he was charged with violating a federal law preventing felons from carrying guns.

While awaiting trial under house arrest in Utah, YoungBoy was arrested again in April over accusations of his alleged involvement in a “large-scale prescription fraud ring.” One of those charges was another count of illegal gun possession over a semi-automatic found in his bedroom.

In December, YoungBoy’s legal team finalized a “global” settlement to resolve all of his cases. With the deal, he pleaded guilty to the federal gun charges and “no contest” to several state charges in Utah.

At the time of his sentencing, YoungBoy’s legal team said in a statement:

“This has been a long road that involved extensive litigation and ultimately extensive negotiation. Kentrell’s defense team is very happy for Kentrell and we look forward to his many future successes.”
