USPS Ranks Georgia as 2nd Worst State For Mail Service

A new quarterly report from the U.S. Postal Service shows that despite minor gains, Georgia is still one of the worst states for on-time mail delivery.
As reported by Fox 5 Atlanta, the report shows that only 61% of two-day mail deliveries in the Peach State arrived on time between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2024. The on-time rate for standard 3-5 day deliveries, meanwhile, fell to 54.5%.
Overall, the USPS performance dashboard currently gives Georgia a score of 56.3% – more than 23 points under the national target of 80% for fiscal year 2025. This makes Georgia the 2nd worst state for mail deliveries in the U.S.
How Georgia Measures Up Nationally
The national average on-time rate for 3-5 day delivery is currently 66.8%, placing Georgia behind most of the country. Only Ohio has a lower performance score. Meanwhile, Hawaii, California, Alaska, Florida, and Pennsylvania are among the states with the highest scores.
The report comes as FedEx board member David Steiner is set to take over as Postmaster General in July, following the resignation of Louis DeJoy. Observers hope that the transition will help improve mail delivery speeds for Georgia and other lagging states.
