Positive Impact, Inc. provides HIV risk-reduction and prevention programs for men and women. These culturally competent programs are offered as mental health prevention, outreach prevention, and individual-level or group-level intervention.

Positive Impact, Inc. has served over 3700 clients with direct services and thousands of other clients and mental health professionals through training and education. Positive Impact produces several professional training workshops on HIV and mental health, manages a student internship program, assists agencies with organizing mental health-related trainings, provides outreach to homeless individuals living with HIV, group support for clients recovering from substance abuse, and a Latino program serving Spanish-speaking clients.

Currently, specific groups that Positive Impact, Inc. targets to help are anyone who is impacted or affected by HIV or AIDS. However, the people/communities that benefit the most are lower income African-American men from the ages of 18-55. This population benefits from our substance abuse treatment program (Project Impact), mental health counseling groups (Brother To Brother) and the M.I.S.T.E.R. program (HIV Testing, STD Screening, educational and living resources). We would like to continue working with this group and expand STD screenings and counseling services to other targeted groups (AA women, Latinos).

One of our primary objectives within the next 12-18 months is to expand our services for African-American women in the metro Atlanta area. According to the CDC, African-American women between the ages of 20-24 in Fulton, Dekalb and Clayton counties have the highest HIV infections in GA.
