Travyon Martin’s parents want to honor their late son’s memory in a book.

According to The New York Times, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin recently met with two publishing executives to discuss the idea. “They intended to write a book that gives the full picture of their son while tracing their own experience of shock and sorrow,” the paper reports. “One publishing executive said Mr. Martin and Ms. Fulton spoke eloquently on social issues of race and religion, suggesting that faith could be a central element of the book.”

If the project goes as planned, this will be the first time the parents of the slain 17-year-old speak out publicly about their own struggle and experience at the trial of George Zimmerman, the man who was acquitted of second-degree murder for the teen’s shooting death in July.

Publishers described the meetings with Fulton and Martin as “somber” and “moving.”

A released date and official publishing house has yet to be announced. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as more details arise.
