At its peak, the Black Mafia Family (BMF) was one of the largest drug rings in America. The crew moved obscene amounts of blow across the country from their Atlanta headquarters.

In recent years BMF has gained an almost mythical stature in the hood thanks to kingpins Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory turning the organization into a multi-million dollar drug empire.

Rick Ross having a hit record called “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” that name checked Big Meech in the hook, and numerous artists affiliated with the crew, only enhanced BMF’s stature. There have been a number of documentaries and profiles of the organization and the latest is  BMF: The Rise & Fall of a Hip Hop Drug Empire, a DVD by Errante Film Productions and Image Entertainment to be released in May 2012.

The 80-minute documentary will detail the rise and fall of BMF from the perspective of the government agencies that brought the organization down. Hundreds of BMF affiliates were convicted, while Big Meech and Southwest T are currently serving 30-year prison sentences.
