This time, the titular vampire arrives in London in the late 19th century posing as an American entrepreneur. Dracula tries to sell Londoners on modern science—electricity, in particular—but he’s not really trying to make money. Instead, Dracula wants revenge on the people who cursed him centuries earlier, and therein lies the central conflict of this NBC 2013-14 TV show, produced by the folks behind the hit “Downton Abbey.”

“What is ‘Dracula?’” is a question NBC answers with the following description: a twisted, sophisticated and sexy take on Bram Stoker’s classic novel, proving that some stories never die.” Will this new fall 2013-14 TV show be a hit? There are reasons that even vampires might look on the bright side and say yes. Meyers is a Golden Globe-winning actor known for “The Tudors,” and “Dracula” is an iconic story that’s been told zillions of times without losing its popularity.
