Sober Stars: 6 Celebs Who Don't Drink Alcohol

Jennifer Hudson revealed that she’s been sober her whole life during an appearance on “Chelsea Lately” Thursday night.

When host Chelsea Handler asked how she prepared for her role as a drug addict in the new film The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete, the actress said it was hard because she’s never even had a drink, let alone try drugs.

“I’ve never done anything, so that was hard to play this role. I’ve never had a drink in my life. I’m sober. I’m like, ‘Okay, this is new to me,’” she said. “Normally as as actor, you have things to pull from. I was like, ‘I don’t know what it’s like to feel any of that.”

“What do you mean you’ve never had a drink?” a surprised Chelsea asked. “What are you waiting for?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never been interested. Nobody ever believes it,” she responded. “When I got this role, I was like, ‘Oh my god, what am I gonna do? What am I gonna pull from to play the role?’”

1. Jennifer Lopez

J-Lo said she stays away from alcohol to keep her youthful glow. ”I think that ruins your skin,” she said. “Of course, during celebratory toasts, everybody’s like, ‘You can’t toast with water!’ So I’ll toast with alcohol and just take a sip.”

2. Jada Pinket Smith

Jada said she stop drinking for health reasons. “I found myself drinking two bottles of wine on the couch and I said, ‘Jada, I think we’ve got a problem here.’” she revealed. “From that day on I went cold turkey; I haven’t had a drink in eight years.”

3. Tyra Banks

The supermodel said she doesn’t drink because of the awful taste. “Every now and then I’ll order some wine at the table. I’ll only take two sips, but I’ll keep holding the glass cause it makes me feel sexy, but I still don’t drink it because it still tastes kind of nasty to me,” she said.

4. Leona Lewis

This songstress said she celebrates “with non-alcoholic champagne.”

“I don’t drink,”she said. “I hate the taste of alcohol.”

5. Naomi Campbell

Naomi said she stopped drinking to avoid the hangovers. “I choose not to drink today in my life because I find that I’m allergic to alcohol. I’m not someone that’s in denial of my problems and I’m not going to lie about my problems and I’m not hiding my problems,” she said. ” I have more energy and I have more fun than when I was drinking and I can hang out really late and get up early in the morning with no hangovers and still smile.”
